Ingredients:
1 package of egg roll wrappers
2 package of string cheese (Frozen)
1 cup flour
3 eggs whipped together
2 cups of bread crumbs
2 tsp of Italian seasoning
1 small jar of marinara sauce
Directions:
Preheat 1 inch of oil in a pan to 350F
Mix the Italian seasoning into the bread crumbs
Setup a “breading station” with the flour, whipped eggs and bread crumbs in separate bowls.
Lay out an egg roll wrapper with a pointy side towards you and brush water on the point furthest away. Place 1 string cheese on the point nearest you, rolling up tightly until you get to the middle. Fold in each side, then continue rolling until you have a tightly wrapped package.
Roll in flour, then dip into the eggs, then roll in the bread crumbs to coat. Set aside until all the cheese is breaded.
Fry 4 to 6 sticks at time in the oil until golden brown.
Remove and drain on a paper towel, sprinkle with salt if desired.
Serve hot with marinara sauce on the side.
Variations – Add some garlic seasoning or even try using panko bread crumbs instead of normal ones. Be careful to make sure your cheese was frozen prior to prevent it from melting completely during the frying process. If you don’t wish to use the deep fry method, you can also bake them. If you choose to bake, freeze the freshly breaded sticks for about 30 min, then place on a sheet pan, drizzle with a touch of butter on each and bake at 400F for about 8 – 10 min until they cheese starts to melt out slightly and is hot.
